I was unemployed for 5 months and in May saw a job advertised through an agency, I applied and got called for an interview, The guy said the vacancy I applied for had gone but they had this other position which was on min wage and with longer hours (43 hours per week), had I said no I'd of lost my job seekers benefits so I took it, went in and on the first day and was hit with a contract with an overtime clause saying it had to be done when asked and was paid at min wage, now OK the odd hours grand but they ask you 2-3 nights per week for a min of 2 hours :( , Had any of this been advertised I wouldn't off taken the job infact no one would which was why they covered all up, the work is also very physically demanding and horrible, I can't help but feel I've been had big time and don't know what to do, you could over look the crappy work and the rest if the money had of been decent, but I am worse off now that I was on benefits by the time I factor in diesel etc.

I'd contact NERA about the overtime, if you are not going home and back in between then the main issue is not being paid overtime

Do you clock in and out?

If so there is a record that can be used.

I can't really see how the overtime is leading to additional costs outside of that scenario to be honest?

Stick with it,and in the meantime look for another job, then give your 2 weeks notice, stick with it even if its for a few months, better to have it on your CV,then lets say getting fired, and having to take it off your CV,or keep it on your CV and try to explain the awkwardness of getting fired away - you wont win on it trust me on that, better to stick it out no matter what and keep positive there are some people who have no jobs and would take your job if you left it vacant a la firing in a second! So try to see it from the other side if you can..I know its difficult, ive been in **** jobs, but im at a time in my life where i cant feck around,i have no choice but to stick with it,instead of going in explaining why i got fired in an interview room for the job i want..The world is fecked up nothings perfect but sometimes you gotta face the shoite..

    43 hours x min wage (8.65/hour) = €371.95 + overtime.

You were getting over €371.95 per week on benefits? I seriously doubt this is true.... but if it is, keep your job for the sake of the rest of us please.

I'd advise to stick with the job until you have something else lined up.

Though I would not recommend staying in a job you dislike if you aren't happy and not benefiting from it and If it causes more stress for you. If paying bills and a standard of living is an issue, look for a job with more pay.

Though the experience you are getting in the job you are in now will benefit you in the long run its better than being unemployed I'd say. Stick it out until you find a job you prefer and with more pay and take it from there but if the job you are in is causing you distress, leave it or take time about leaving it until you have something lined up.

Though with minimum wage you shouldn't be too bad for a few months to tie you over. If you are budgeting and paying the bills and everything else is ok stay in the job until something better comes along.

You forgot the full stop at the end of your sentence.

OP there is not much you can do here as long as no laws are being broken. The maximum working hours is 48 hours averaged out be 3 or 6 months depending on the job. See here.

The OP said when diesel is factored in which might be €100 or more a week so I can see how it close to the same or worse than benefits.

^^^^^^ Oh not the grammer police ^^^^^^^^

Op my advice, Stay in the job and look for a better paid one. It can be really hard to go from benefits to working but you made the first and hardest step. Well done and good luck.
