Must have been a scary turn of events for the victim.

He gets his arm broken by a garda for filming the gardai on his phone, then taken to the station with his broken arm.

Then after he goes to the hospital, finds out the extent of his injuries and makes a complaint to the Garda ombudsman.

The garda who broke the arms finds out, and then makes up false charges against the guy and another garda goes along with the false charges.

The guy is very lucky that there was footage that caught the gardai out and that proved that pretty much everything the gardai in question said was made up.

The garda who broke the arm should have been charged with assault imho as he broke the guy's arm and both gardai should also be done for perjury imho as they lied in court by giving false evidence against the man.

Thankfully the gardai involved in attacking an innocent man and also of making up fake charges would be in the minority, but it still casts a shadow over the force in general if they don't get kicked off the force and charged for what they did. Plus it really casts a lot of doubt over any evidence they have given in the past.

Too damn bad for these drunken little idiots. All fired up on liquid courage they decide to become journalists for a cause, please.

"Fractured" arm? Two words: stop resisting.

I've been out many a night in Limerick, in that area, and around Nancy Blake's and often wished their were more Gardai out making their presence known.

These idiots were asked to leave, they didn't. There's only one way to deal with degenerates like these - force.

Anyone that wants to question what they did or how they did it? Fine, get out there on the dock road some Friday or Saturday night and show us how it's done.

Also, consider what it is like being a Gardai at night, with drunken idiots around you and now there's someone pointing something at you, is it a phone, gun, or maybe a phone-gun?

Kudos to the Gardai, we need more like them.

You should come down off your high horse their. The lad was released soon after being arrested and the on duty senior Garda member noted that the young fella was not drunk. The Gardai made up false claims that he was drunk and could not stand on his feet. The CCTV footage showed that the young man was not drunk and that the Gardai became heavy handed purely because they were being recorded. It was noted that these particular gards seemed to be lookig for trouble. The arm break was probably not intentional but also could most likely have been avoided with a cooler head.

How you can defend the Gardai in this situation is mind boggling. The judge has even said it was disgraceful, pointing out that was interesting this case came up the same week Rodney King passed away in the states.

A mate of my was handled only two weeks ago very heavy handed (not to the same extreme as the above case) and when the Garda was questions about it he said no such thing happened. They are trying to get hold of the cctv footage of the area at the moment.

A very small few of the Gardai are on power trips and they should be kicked out of the force as soon as possible. Big men picking on certain youngfellas but would crap therein pants in front of big scumbags.
