    can anyone advise me here?

    this is the process -
    • I sign into Apple ID (itunes, app store etc) on my ipad
    • a few days later i get the below mail
    • a few days later my account gets locked out
    • i go to iforgot and reset my password
    • return to step 1

the part that frustrates me, is that this has now happened around 10 times and I have since given up logging in, meaning i can never download apps when i need them etc.
is it just me that this happens to? anyone else seen it before?

why does it still lock me out, even though the mail says not to take any action.

i know no one on boards will have all the answers to this, so perhaps to summarise -
    has this happened to you?
does anyone know which apple department to contact about this?

Sounds like someone is trying to log into your account. Either they are trying to hack it or they mistakenly think your email address is theirs. Is your email just a name that somebody else might have? e.g. joebloggs@gmail.com.

I'd recommend changing the email you use with your Apple ID.

I guess that could be it alright, it just seems strange that they would only try hack my apple ID rather than my gmail which would give them access to everything if they got in.

there's also never any notifacation from apple that my account has been locked or that someone has been trying anything funny.
would you know if this is a setting that i need to enable?

No, no setting. Maybe check your spam box though.

And like I said, they may not realise it's someone else's email. I've an old Gmail account to which I regularly receive order confirmations and newsletters. Some person thinks my email is theirs and keeps using it to sign up to things. The lesson I learned is to have a number in your email address, e.g. joebloggs90@gmail.com, rather than just joebloggs.

Yeah, if they other guy can't login he would keep requesting the iForgot which is sent to you.

Thing is, it only ever gets requested once, then my account is locked out.
    Wouldnt someone keep requestong it?

No because once they don't receive the email they'll keep trying the password. It's likely they've been trying to login into your email account as well.

Is your email address just your name?

of course, what you're saying makes sense.

as of this morning, I've changed my appleID to one of my random email addresses (previously was using firstname.lastname@gmail.com)

will try this for a while and see how it goes.
