"Freezer high temperature" light on a Hotpoint RFA60 fridge-freezer

In the last week, the freezer high temperature light on our Hotpoint RFA60 fridge-freezer came on, and since then, while it remains cold, it's not freezing.

Funny thing is the fridge is fine, temperature seems to be ok, and nothing has gone off in it.

Went out yesterday for a look at new ones, and was shocked at the price of replacements.

Anybody have any idea, or had this issue with this before?

    Thanks :)

Sorry for the delayed response :o

We defrosted it only recently, about a week before the "freezer high temp" light came on.

The door is closing and sealing fine. Nothing hindering it.

could be a number of things .hard to diagnose without see it.
    1/low on gas
    2/blockage
    3/weak compressor
    4/insulation failing
    5/sensor

Does it have an internal light on that model? if so make sure it's not stuck in the 'on position'

Light has come on on mine in the past week but fridge and freezer both still working properly. Am thinking it might have to do with the front panel breaking on the top drawer with about 20% of it broken off. Debating ordering a new drawer but don't want to spend the money if the whole thing is likely to stop working.

Defrosted it yesterday, light still on. Food still frozen.

About a week after the freezer high temp light came on, the fridge also packed in.

So I just had to replace it altogether.

Coincidentally the same happened with ours, the top drawer front broke off, it seems to be a bit flimsy, but not sure if this had anything to do with high temp coming on to be honest.

recently came across similar problem that was caused by a frozen pipe within the system , was told to unplug the fridge freezer for 3-4 days and when plugged in again everything worked fine.

Have same problem. High temp.light on and water all over the floor.

    Is my freezer goosed?

Ya could be fecked all right.. might be a quick cheap fix or something bigger. But nowadays inmo if any appliance is up close to 10 years or over just to call out a repair guy and pay for a small part can be a non economical repair.. i had a few hotpoint appliances brand new when i moved into my house in 05..the dishwasher and fridge/freezer both fecked up in under 4 years. And I got fridge replaced under warranty..the hotpoint service guy was dead sound but he made it clear that their fridges were crap quality..I had a Bosch washing machine also new in 05 and never a bother. Jesus it's well paid for itself now.. but all the appliances we buy today are definitely gone down in quality and if they are out of warranty most of time its cheaper to replace
