    Hi All,
Looking for some advice please, have been going out with my boyfriend for the last 10 yrs and last night he asked me to marry him so now its time to start shopping :)
We dont want to tell anyone yet until we have the ring but the problem is we dont have a clue where would be the best place to start and we dont want to start popping the subject up in conversation with friends / family incase they get sus. Ideally i'd like to have the ring made
Any recommendations will be much appreciated..

If you are in or near Dublin try Precious.ie
Eoin made my wife her ring we had pictures of what she liked and he made it even nicer than we could have expected. We even went back for matching wedding bands.

Got wedding band my to my design by Michael Horan in Tullamore. He did a fantastic job, highly recommend.

Also, it cost only a fraction of what was quoted in Jewellery shops.

If you're closer to Limerick I would highly recommend Topaz Jewellers in the city. I heard about them on this forum and they are definatly as good as other posters said. I got my engagment ring remade/reset and very happy with end result. Great craftsmanship and price, and believe me I priced around.

thanks all, im more looking for dublin / wicklow /wexford area

I have heard of a good few in Deubline - In relation to Voltaire from what I have read on other forums there are great for budgets of 5K, ours isnt near this so im just wondering has many others just them with a lower budget

also is there any good places in wexford that people can recommend?

We used Voltaire and our budget was well below €5k. They can really work with any budget so i would not rule them out.

Same as the poster above, €5K would have been way above our budget and we got a lovely ring from Voltaire and Seamus was great to deal with, very helpful and informative

thats good to hear that 5K was above your budget and Voltaire worked for you

whats the norm of how many jewellers to visit before settling with one?

This might be of some help Bid08..I got various quotes from jewellers in Limerick, Galway and Dublin, around 11 in total. The quotes varied so much and I'm sure it's the same when buying a ring. As i said I got mine remade using the same diamonds. I was on a tight budget so was determined to get best work for best price. Voltaire is all over this website as well as YouTube so I emailed to get a quote and Seamus wasn't by any means the cheapest.

Thanks that does help. I had planned on trying quite a few places before making my decision to ensure we are getting the best value
