Hey, my friend is currently driving like 1.0L car, and he's thinking of changing to 1.8L or around that. He rang up his insurance and they said that price will go up quite a lot since he's changing from like class 1 or 2 (cant remember) to class 10 car.

So i thought it's kind of interesting about these classes, is there any online info on this? Likle perhaps all cars listed and to which class they belong to?

Parkers gives all the insurance groups for cars in the U.K

    K11 Micra (7)

    Mk1 Focus 1.4 (9) & 1.6 (11)

Same Corsa as you have (3)

Irish insurance groups aren't normally published afaik. They do vary somewhat insurer to insurer, and tend to be similar to the UK system though.

Factors would include - value, parts and repair costs, performance, engine size, mods, security etc.

Some cars ring alarm bells -Civic, Glanza, even some Tdi's.

Try saying to any insurance company these words:

Hello, I would like to get a qoute for my skyline/wrx/Sti/Evo.

99.9% of the times person on the other end will go:
We don't deal with performance cars
We don't deal with Subaru or skyline
We don't deal with jap imports ( its uk car? Don't care )
Get out of here! We don't insure rally cars ( I was Seriuosly told that )

If those cars are in some class, then I presume that class is "black list" class.

Highest rated group, or "decline" I'm sure.

I just wonder if they do a "recount" on cars ross group. Cars, which I listed are on the most highest risk group. Now there are not many of those things in the road and most of them are owned by enthusiasts. I am 100% sure there are less skylines in accsidents in the last 10 years then corrollas etc. the risk groups should be lowered maybe for cars like this then? Ofc insurance companies play a safe game where they just avoid these cars, but the way I see it, cars like this are involved in less accsidents then run of the mill stuff,

Insurers don't generally want to cover these cars, and unfortunately there's nothing you or anybopdy else can do about it.

    Hi can someone help,

My employer has requested I contact my insurer to request class 2 in the event I would be required to take a client in my car (has not happened but in the case I would need to) RSA are my insurers, through 123insurance. Contacted them and requested this.123 informed me they do not offer this,no reason, just dont. RSA Insurance do,but as I am insured through 123 apparently I cannot?? Cannot really understand why this is the case.Other colleagues appear to have added this to their policies without any hassles. Some had to pay extra, others did not. My question is, is there any way I could get this add on through another company whilst keeping my policy, which is up in March 2013 (and obviously I will then need to change companies to one which offers this) I do not want to have to change insurance companies now (nor can I afford to)
