    Hi,

I'm looking for any advice regarding the restoration of the Dog Grate in the pics.

I've owned this for the last 12 years having bought it at an auction, it was in use until about 3 years ago when i installed a stove in the fireplace. Just looking for suitable ways of maybe cleaning it down and re-painting or should it be re-painted at all!

    Thanks for any help.

Nice basket cant tell how old it is from the pics though it does look as if there is some age to it.Restoration is easy,a rub down with a wire brush and wd40 (any hardware store) then either a graphite spray or polish. You can get it from treaty fireplaces john st limerick or perhaps any antique fireplace company will have both in stock. It seems in good nick though the two back bars are showing signs of wear.

Thanks for the info.:) Will give that a go and post some pics when finished. I don't see any markings on it regarding manufacturer or dates. There are some numbers embossed on it I might be able to make them out when it's cleaned down.
