great course, shame the weather wasnt a bit dryer, apparently it was because of all the kats crying over yesterdays result but thats a different story :D

Got to the 8th hole, looked like a lovely par 5 but decided not to play it because the ground staff were digging up the fairway
I dont mean shovels and rakes i mean tractors, leaf blowers and about eight fellas going the full length of the fairway.

no one informed us in the pro shop because seemingly the green keeper didnt tell them

Anyone any idea what that was about?

Fantastic course though, will be going back again for sure.

Why were they using leaf blowers along with other more practical machinery to dig up a fairway?
How much was it to play and since the 8th hole was effectively out of play did you get a partial refund? What explanation did they give in the proshop after the round for the disturbance to your game.

They had leaf blowers blowing what looked to be cut grass off to one side, i couldnt get a good look. Sorry maybe i should rephrase my post, it 'looked' as though they were digging up the fairway. A tractor driving up and down the fairway, 3 lads with leaf blowers, a trike looking thing that was leaving what seemed to be upturned sods behind it and 2 lads over seeing the operation along with 2 other lads pushing two smaller machines that were spitting out grass to one side wich the lads with the blowers were blowing away. There was no sign on the tee box to say it was out of play, the markers were still on the tee boxes, we only saw that the flag was in the hole when we got nearer the green, we skipped it as wernt sure what was happening. The group behind (in the same society) rang the pro shop when they got to the 8th and the chap in the pro shop said there should be nobody on it so they played away.

No explanation was given when we finished, the chap simply said "no one told us and went on to tell us that the green keeper could lay a new fairway in a day" not sure what that was about or if its even possible. we didnt get a partial refund (we didnt really ask for one to be honest) and it cost us €70 each.

Im dont mean to put down the course or anything, was just wondering if any members of Mt Juliet where on here and came across it today? did they know? what were they doing?

as i said fantastic course, really enjoyed it, it didnt ruin the day, just confused that what looked like such a big operation wasnt passed onto the lads in the pro shop or that there wasnt a sign about it on the tee box

The summer series is 60 not sure how much the regular opens are it includes a drink and burger half way round which is nice. Well worth a trip once a year for the best parkland course in the country.

I played a few month back and the 16th fairway was out of play as they were completely re-laying it. We were informed in the pro-shop before playing and got out for a reduced rate.

The reason why the 8th had a big hole was so we could bury our hurlers from Sunday last. Not to worry though hipjo the 8th fairway won't flood again as the 182 all Ireland medals also buried shall help the water drain towards the river nore
