going putting a hydro in a silvia..
will standard brake pads hold up with the hydro.?
will upgraded pads wear the disc?

The factory Silvia single piston calipers aren't up to much in normal use, never mind when used with the hydraulic handbrake.

The twin piston set up from a Skyline works much better. For pads, something that bites straight from cold like EBC red stuff works best IMO.

depends on weithe its dedicated track/race or streetable... well... barely streetable

if for tracks then use EBC as everyone else does with much pleasure.

how hard a conversion would the skyline brakes be ?

    its not intended for track.
dont plan on putting in skyline brakes either.
just wanta know will it be waste of time putting in hydro on standard pads.

It won't be a waste of time, but how well it works depends on the quality of the handbrake you get and the condition of your calipers.

The S body rear calipers are extremely prone to sticking/seizing and if they are then you'll have a rubbish handbrake.

Regardless of any of the above though I wouldn't use standard pads as they wouldn't be us to any hard use with the hydro.

It will fail the NCT as the handbrake has to be a cable handbrake.Thats as far as I know anyway.

A good few cars have passed with them. The NCT regs don't specify that the parking brake has to be cable operated(the UK MOT does) so once the handbrake can be applied and locked in position then it should pass.

Some brands of hydraulic handbrake can be locked in the 'park' position.

may seem like a stupit question but will the standard handbrake not work then, always thought it had no effect on it

u will need to plum the handbrake into calipers and leave some form of mechanical locking to pass test u could leave original handbrake in if u have room

It will still work if you leave it in place.
