Dive charter

I am currently working several jobs on the sea, diver for fishfarms, deck hand for a ferry service(also skipper a RIB during busy weekends/events) but now am considering going it alone. I live in west galway and often see dive clubs coming around for dives off the rugged west coast, now the clubs I see are the same and have there own boat/rib to get around. What i'm asking here is if there would be demand from other clubs that might not have there own boat or that don't want the hassle of a long tow. Thanks

Best bet would be contacting the clubs directly I'd say mate. I know a good few clubs use charters alright.

a lot of the clubs in my region all use their own boats. I think the self sufficiency is something that clubs are proud of and that they don't have to adhere to anyone else's schedule. There are several centres around the country that have great relationships with clubs that offer dive charters and the majority of clubs still bring their own boats.

Where exactly are you hoping to work out of? You're going to struggle to compete with SDW, but if you can bring a decent rib, with a good selection of dive sites, and reasonable rates, you may get yourself a small piece of the market.

Are you a diver yourself (apart from the commercial work) and would you be confident in being able to describe the dive sites to your customers. Ive seen others fall down in this aspect. Great boatmen, but no experience of the dive sites.

Clubs tend to do big trainee weekend trips to killary/camus and bring their own equipment so unless your going to provide a 10m RIB with cheap dives, it could be a risky investment.

At the moment, theres nobody I know running charters to Aran (used to be a guy (nick) out of rossaveal but he is doing other stuff now)

Best of luck with it anyways, great to see someone new coming in trying to set themselves up!
