Looking for a second car and one that I'll use to commute 30 miles (each way) motorway at least 3 times a week.

I like the Focus, but with the 1.4 not the best (engine size v car weight), that leaves the 1.6 which adds a further €120 tax and probably higher insurance considering I'll be classed as having zero NCB (pity 10 years NCB won't carry over from bikes. Been a named driver on my wife's policy for 5 years so that might count for something).

Whatcar? have the Ceed as their best buy used car, especially if you can get one with a few years of the Kia warranty left.

So, what's the 1.4 Ceed like? Engine big enough? Decent MPG?

The ceed 1.4 is lovely, it's way more powerful than the one in the focus and plenty for carrying the car around, also consider the Hyundai i30, the 2 cars are essentially the same, 3 year warranty on the Irish ones up to late 08 though, so in this case, the Kia with 7 year warranty might suit better.

I'm a happy owner of the Pro'Ceed 1.4 petrol .. wouldn't look near a focus after getting this car earlier this year.

Tonnes of power for 1,4 and insurance is better than focus/corolla rates. Holds there money thus you'll have to fork out more but with 150km or 7yrs warranty on nearly everything in the car

best of luck when ya get the Kia.. ps if ya need insurance help - PM me

My parents have a 2007, very nice and reliable. Enough power to normal driving. A great alternative to the usual Fords and Toyota options. Get the higher spec model with the nice interior.
