Childrens fares on Wexford line

The mini-zags are being despatched off to relatives down the country (or outer suburban Dublin, take your pick) later this week.

I had a look at the website to see how much the train fare is from Dublin to Arklow, but all it will tell me is that I can't reserve online. I don't want to reserve online, I just want to know how much to give the kids.

Does anyone know what the fare is from Dublin to Arklow for children ? Also, are there any promotional fares or is it just the walk up fare ? Finally, I presume there's no weird "must be accompanied by an adult" sort of condition attached to these fares, is there ? They get the train to school every week during term time and of course there's no such condition.

I know there are buses on the route, but we're beside the train station so it makes sense to stick them on it.

    Hi,

There is a fare grid here - http://www.irishrail.ie/index.jsp?p=118&n=197&a=265#Dublin Connolly - Rosslare Fare Grid

There is also the following right down the bottom -

Child Fares - With the exception of cross border journeys, fares for children of 5 years of age and under 16 years of age are charged at half the appropriate adult fare up to a maximum fare of €28.50.

    Cheers

Cool, thanks for the quick reply.

It looks like it's at the 'G' rate - €16 for an adult, so €8 for kids.

Day single for adult is €16 and day return €17 with open return being €20.50 Child fares should be half the adult fares up to a maximum of €28.50

There are family tickets and these have a requirement that a minimum of 1 adult and 1 child must travel.

Depending on age, just have someone see them off at one station and someone else to collect them. For the first time anyway.

Family tickets require 1 adult + 1 child

These seem to be the correct fares
