Having an MRI dont today on my lumbar sacral spine and just wondered if anyone else had one. I have had a MRI before on a different area so know what to expect noise wise etc. Just wondered with my back, do you lie on back or stomach? Also how far into the scanner will I have to go, will my head have to go in?

Usually yes to all of the above but can very depending on the specifics of your referal. Ie why they r doing the scan.
Please DO NOT post reasons for scan here.

Best thing you can do is discuss it with the radiographer doing the scan for you when you get to your appointment.
If you are very anxious you could try ringing the MR department first &discuss with them.
