    Hi

I have been been quoted 90e for a check-up with a periodontist in Dublin and 280e for scaling and root planning treatment ( which I'm certain I will advised to have given the state of my receding gums ). I'm currently unemployed and just trying to find out if this is the standard rate for such procedures. In 2007 I had a deep clean below the gum line for 60e a session ( 2 sessions at a Mayo clinic). I know If I can't get anything cheaper then the above quote is still worth it but of course it's good to shop around ! PM's Please :)

If the prices you said are for a actual specialist periodontist then they are the cheapest periodontist I have ever heard of. Usually its about 100-150 for a consult and over 1000 for the scaling and root planning. The time taken, and detail of the job are second to none.

Getting basic perio cleaning under local anaesthetic with a general dentist is a good first line and resolves most periodontal issues, but is not directly comparable with specialist treatment.
