Issues with music collection/storage on Samsung Galaxy S3

I'm delighted thus far with the vast majority of things on my new Samsung Galaxy S3 but just have a couple of issues with the organisation of the music collection I've put on the phone.

I got a 64 GB micro SD card so I could put on a very large amount of music and have done that but there are two issues that I could do with some help and advice on please.

    1. When I connect the phone as a media device to add music, it will only show up a very small proportion of the folders when I open up the main music folder. However, when I remove the SD card and put it straight into the PC, it shows up all the files and enables me therefore to move stuff around and place files into existing folders etc. Any ideas why this is? I'd rather not have to open and close the phone all the time to remove the card, which I am doing properly by unmounting it through the settings menu, so if there is something I can do to show up all the files by just connecting the phone that would be great!

    2. Also, I've done a bunch of playlists, but when I've come back to the playlists, they've all been empty! I don't know if it's been anything to do with when the phone is connected to the PC or the SD card has been removed/replaced in the phone but would appreciate knowing if there is an extra step I need to follow when I've completed a playlist in order to save it to the phone memory.

Any help with these two questions would be greatly appreciated - thanks!!!

I imagine the SGS3 uses MTP transfer by default (ICS feature) instead of using the SD card as an external drive

If you go to phone Settings, More (under Data Usage), USB Utilities, press "Connect storage to PC" and then connect the phone with the USB cable
You'll need to press the button under the green android guy when it's connected, the SD card should appear on your PC and maybe it will show all the folders then?
