If I was picking a race to be incredulous about from Paris, it would not be the mens 5k

Did they forget to run the last lap?

http://corkrunning.blogspot.ie/2012/07/six-runners-break-1250-in-one-5k-race.html ok title fixed. Something is not right about this race.

    Any ideas?

    Faulty timing? Short track?

In my opinion, a strong field, good pacemaking and fierce competition (it was a trial race for the Ethiopians) can lead to lots of fast times.

A good example would be the 1974 CG 1500m. The all-time list immediately before the race read:

    3:33.1 Ryun
    3:34.0 Wadoux
    3:34.6 Bayi
    3:34.91 Keino

    The race result:
    3:32.16 Bayi
    3:32.52 Walker
    3:33.16 Jipcho
    3:33.89 Dixon
    3:34.22 Crouch

In the 5k, they went under 12:50 17 years ago! They went under 12:40 15 years ago!

We've been waiting a long time for this type of result.

mmm not sure what was wrong with the race, I though it was very good. 6 men running 15 seconds than a world record isnt that odd.

5 years last time it was done and then 6 do it in one race. Have you another example of similar happening ?

Yep its rare but when you have GEBREMESKEL a 7:34 3k runner this year, others were 3:50 milers so a quality field. The one stand out run for me was gebrhiwet running 12:47 as a junior is mental.

It's mental running for anyone. The guy is not really a junior though.
