Wheels for heavy riders

    Hi has anyone got any recomondations for a good wheel set for a heavier rider ive popped a few spokes on my own bike which has a bontrager wheels didnt have any problems for first 3000km but popped 3 spokes after that from what ive been reading more spokes = stronger wheel able to put up with more abuse ive been looking around just really going on spoke count heres one wheel set i saw . any help would be appreciated

    You don't give a weight but I'm currently close to 98kg(16st). I use Mavice Aksiums and I have never had a problem ever. Consider them to be bullet proof.

    I would suggest to go with hand built wheels. Something like a 36 spoke Mavic Open with a Shimano/Campag hubs (depending what you run). It will end a bit more expensive, but it will also mean you will not have to do anything with them in the future.

    103kg at the moment got mavic kysrium sl's not a bother with them over the past year (on donegal roads)

    Thanks for all the advise id be around the 18st mark 6ft 2in so i might look into getting a wheel built for me the mavic open sounds good . I just want to get back cycling without fear of snapping spokes .

    Had to hand tighten some spokes before Molls gap on the ring of Kerry, but the rims were still true! Will check what I have, boggo 700c rims on a giant seek. Was jumping plenty bad spots on the road...
