I'm after breaking the key for my U-Bar bike lock with part of the key stuck inside the lock.

Any ideas on how to break open the lock to free the bike?

    Cheers.

Spray WD 40 or other lube into the lock and if you can still fit the remainder of the key into the lock use that to turn it same as if the key was still intact.
Bar that check out on Youtube how to open locks.

If the U-Lock is cheap and you don't mind destroying it, a car jack between the two long sections of the U section and prise it apart.
    Or angle grinder.

If you don't want to break the lock and have a spare key you might be able to remove the broken part of the key that's in the lock: put a small dab of superglue on the remaining part of the key (where the key has broken) and insert it into the lock, give it two or three seconds and it should stick to the part that's stuck in the barrel, the part that's in the barrel should then pull out out but don't leave the key in too long or the complete key will get stuck..
