    Hi lads

Putting this up for a buddy of mine

He Shot a fox a good while back and with our amazing weather the field was like a bog so he couldnt while in shoes go get the tail so he left it until the next morning to collect it . What he found is the creepy part .

He asked me to put it up just to see has anyone ever experienced something along the same lines or if anybody has an answer as to what did it

    Thanks all

    GH

I think he used a 177mm rocket, not a 17hmr. Can easily happen, fumbling around in the back of the pick up in the dark and end up using the wrong weapon :)

Stray dog I'd say or a badger
    Strange one alri
It ain't buzzards as its not stripped its torn in half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,807 ✭✭✭Birdnuts

Only a large badger would have the power to do that - but the break seems very clean which suggests someone wanted some fox meat:eek:;)

Fellow foxes...They have been known to chow down on their weaker pals, like a wolf pack will savage kill and eat the weakest pack member if times are tough.

That's true but this looks like it was cut and pulled away from behind the front legs
Then looks like buzzards pecked away at its ribs

Ya, on my travels of the interweb I think I seen a case of a fox carcass that had its head missing. It was either here or the uk, I cant remember where I seen it exactly but the general concensus was that it was another fox.

When I worked in pest control in London, I saw around 15 - 20 rats down an alley in an inner city area all with only their heads missing. The rest of the body was left intact. Nobody in the company I worked for seemed to be sure what killed them and ate just their heads. Any ideas? Foxes perhaps.

on a serious note i read a story like below!

Customs officers seize hundreds of headless rats destined for London restaurants

Customs officers have seized hundreds of headless rats which were being smuggled to London So African diners could crunch into their bones and flesh.
Hundreds of rat corpses - which had been smoked to improve their flavour - were found at Tilbury Docks, in London.
The grisly discovery was made by customs officials as they made a routine inspection of a shipment of synthetic hair at the docks.
Closer investigation revealed boxes containing the carcases of 340 kilos of headless rats.
The giant cane rats, which had been smoked prior to shipping, arrived in a shipment from Ghana and are considered a delicacy in the country.
The illegal trade in the meat of wild animals has been devastating animal populations for decades and experts fear the unrefrigerated meat is capable of carrying diseases such as foot-and-mouth, anthrax, the Ebola virus, TB and cholera.
John Kaye, Assistant Director of Criminal Investigations at Ipswich, said: "This discovery of bushmeat has stopped an illegal and un-regulated product with health implications from reaching our streets."
A 42-year-old West African woman has been arrested at an address in London in connection with the illegal importation and later bailed pending further enquiries.
