Toshiba Satellite C660-18c Temperature Warning

    Hi All

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-18c and I am constantly getting pop up warning messages that my system temperature is too hot and I need to shut the system down immediately. The full message is as follows:
    System Warning
Warning: A problem with the cooling system has been detected. Please turn off the computer immediately, and return it for service.

I am quite frankly pissed off with them, the computer is about 18months old and these messages started about 6months ago, just after the computer went out of warranty. I know there is nothing wrong going wrong with the computer and even if there is I'm willing to accept the consequences if it breaks, I'll jut buy a new one.

I'm just wondering is there any way I can disable this pop up permanently. I understand this is not the best idea but laptop was like 250 or 300euro so if it kicks the bucket I'll just buy another one. I just really want to disable the pop up.

I've looked online via google and had someone tell me to shut down the Twarnmsg.exe by renaming it to like Twarnmsg.exeold so that it couldn't run however I could not find a Twarnmsn.exe so I was unable to do that.

Also I tried to disable it via the bios, but there is no option to do that in the Bios.

    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks
    Ian

It could be something you downloaded.

You could backup you files and restore it to factory settings.

I should have mentioned that I already tried this.

I also should have mentioned that I found Twarnmsg.dll but not .exe, do you think changing the .dll to say .dllold would hep the problem?

Get Coretemp to monitor CPU temperature.

Take it apart and de-fluff it, you'd be surprised how much crap is in there stopping the warm air from getting out.
If you need to remove heatsink from CPU, change the thermal paste.

Here's a video, may not be your exact model
