How much should I pay to get a new timing belt on a citreon xsara. Its showing signs of visual wear and tear. Also has anyone any recommendations for garages in the Dublin 24 area. Thanks

It depends on the engine type your have.

You can't see the timing belt unless you strip remove the covers etc so is it definatly te timing belt your looking at?

Its a 1.4 petrol. Its a belt that runs in and out around different sized cogs. Its on the left as you look at it but not directly to the side of the engine block, Where i can see some wear is just beside where id fill up the steering fluid which is a bit closer to the radiator. Its a big cog at the top.

That's the auxiliary belt, not the timing belt. It should be no more then €50 to have both auxiliary belts changed on your car.

The timing belt itself should be changed every 10 years or 75,000 miles so if your over either of those then you should be looking at having that done too. Should be no more then €300 to have that changed.
