Host Process for Windows Services stopped working....

    Vista x64bit.

For the last couple of weeks I've been getting an occasional error message that says: "Host Process for Windows Services stopped working and was closed."

It doesn't appear to interfere with the operation of the computer in any way.

The error message suggests running Disk Error Check and the a defrag of the C: drive. I've done both of these to no avail.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    D.

When you say disk check, what one did you run?

There are 2 main ones, used for different things. Chkdsk looks for bad sectors etc, but sfc looks for corrupt OS files. If you only ran one of them, give the other one a shot.

There are two options, fix file system errors and recovery of bad sectors.

    I checked both boxes.

    Thanks for the reply.

Just had a blue screen now. First time that's happened.

Click the windows start button 'the globe on the bottom left of the monitor' then click All programs then look for and click accessories then up the top, right click command prompt and click run as administrator. Type in the following........

SFC /SCANNOW (there is a space between SFC and the forward slash) and click enter and let it scan through till the end. When done type EXIT and click enter and see how it goes. Do the CHKDSK this way in command prompt as well.
