Usual beginner's question...GPS recommendation?

A friend of mine loaned me his Garmin GPS for holidays and now I'm hooked!

I'm looking for a good car sat/nav device and probably not prepared to pay more than 150-200 euro.

Desired features....reasonably-priced (!) map upgrades, initial maps for Ireland, UK and W Europe (with option to install US maps), vehicle speed and road speed limit indicators, "talking" directions.

Bluetooth would be nice but not essential.

Recommendations? (Plus thoughts on best place to source in Ireland or beyond such as Amazon).

    Thanks!

Stick with TomTom or Garmin. Its the only way to be sure of up to date maps & software.
You can compare TomTom devices here
    http://www.tomtom.com/en_ie/shop/car-navigation/
    And Garmin devices here
    https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134

TomTom has the option of live services like traffic, weather & google search.
Garmin has the ability to receive TMC traffic.
    TomTom use Go codes now
    Garmin Uses Loc8 codes.
Both are available in stores like Harvey Normans , Argos , Currys/PC World , Halfords etc...

This looks the best model to meet my needs (which, to be honest, are not very sophisticated)....anybody got any thoughts on this choice (good or bad)?

Not a bad choice. At €199 . If it ticks all the boxes you want. As long as its Garmin or TomTom you'll have no problems,;)

Just in reply had a Garmin 265W for several years and it never missed a beat, but due to it been nearly four years old, the battery wasn't lasting any more than a half hour, due to it been used 12hrs a day 7 days a week. Went to halford's today and picked up the Garmin 50LM for 175e. Perfect choice and was already loaded with Europe 2013.1. Voice is very loud at 100% the screen at 5" though big is perfect, very sharp and clear. Also contains Junction view so you know what lane to be in on motorways(mainly Dublin). Very much like a smartphone when scrolling through options and map. You also get life time map updates.

Thanks...looks like a good option....better than the 2445. No Bluetooth but that wasn't a priority need anyway.
