Hey, just found out about this yesterday on internet, how come Audi TT 1.8L is considered a girls car? Is there any edition that's not considered such?

    Few reasons

    They're very nicely styled cars
    They're a bit small

Therefore the type of people who buy 1.6 imprezas because they think that they look nice say actually nice looking cars are girls cars.

I quite like the way they drive, even the 180 Quattro is nippy

You just need to drive a car you like yourself, don't worry about what other blokes think, I had a tt for the weekend and it got lots of compliments from girls and guys.

Due to the fact you had to ask that question, I respectfully suggest you have a look in your underpants and check whats there. There should be a long, sausage-looking thing and two round lumps.

Any stylish coupe will get the "oh its a girls/hairdressers car" comments, dont worry about it. As long as the drivers side dose not have a vanity mirror for putting on make up your driving a mans car.

You'd see lots of women driving them.

When the TT first came out I only ever saw girls driving them so naturally enough I associate it as a girly car, bit like builders and transits.

All this guys car/girls car is rubbish to a certain extent. I'd quite happily drive a TT as I think they look excellent. Would really like a spin in one of the diesel ones. Great looking car inside and out.

I think this silly stigma started over in the UK where they were a firm favourite with hairdressers and estate agents.

The older models maybe due to the styling but the newer models look much better and the Quattro has a growl that would put the sh1ts up a Rottweiler. A friend has one and once you drive it that whole notion of girly car goes right out the window. And as Colm said, drive what YOU like and not what other people think you should like.

    Add MX5 to that list.
Seriously, don't pay attention to that sh8te OP. Drive whatever you like.
If it makes you happy to drive a pink Micra convertible, do it!

Now that is a girl's car!

IMO it's because of the way they're driven. I think they're mainly bought by men, albeit the kind of man who worries what other people think and is nervous behind the wheel. For this reason alone, i'd be more likely to let a Micra out in front of me than a TT. :)

Ah now in fairness - if you want to drive an mx5 or tt then do by all means. But there's a line and a pink Micra convertible is well over it!

It takes very big balls to drive a pink Micra and fairly good self esteem to drive an MX5, whereas any nervous nellie can drive a TT.

I have no problem driving the MX5, but I might not be man enough for the pink Micra!:D

I am big mother ****er and i drive mx5. Never ever had any problems of "girls car". Even when I was looking to buy 3.5 years ago I never even thought that it was marked as girls car... I was buying it as a very cool sports rwd car with option as cabrio.
Funny enough someone mentioned impreza above. I got impreza wrx and mx5 parked in front of my house and I think both of them look very very beautifull. I drive both of them and love both of them. If someone thinks that mx5 is car only for girls, then I just feel sorry for them, because they are missing out on of of the most fun cars in the history of motoring.

Audi TT would be a car for both genders too. I am not fan of audis or TT, but I would not have any second thoughts if I would be given to drive 225 Quattro one.

So as long as its not pink with fluffy unicorns and playboy stockers - its a car for both genders in my books.

You're right, but most people are stupid.

The MX5's a pretty little thing, but to me the WRX looks like a plastic toy that a dog ate and couldn't hold down. I'd still have one in a heartbeat, just sayin'.

Now, that's what I call optimistic, compared to something like a four cylinder family car it growls, but come on loike

This is true, the TDaye brigade seem to be mostly boys.

There's something special seeing a girl driving a proper fast car or bike - incredibly sexist comments but still.

This is the best explanation, I get a bit of a slagging over the s2000.This mostly comes from people who drive 1.9 tdi's and the like. The people I get compliments from vastly outnumber the begrudgers. :)

I would drive a TT if the old back was up to it.
My niece had the quattro 225 one, I drove it a couple of times on short runs. Nice car
    Wouldnt mind this one

In Ireland? With them wheels? And that lowered suspension?

I wouldn't say the front bumper would last long on it. Or infact I can't see anything from side skirts to underbody lasting too long
On saying that it is a savage car.

The Toledo my son drives is only 4" from the ground at the front.
Looking under it looks like about 2~3" clearance under the sump :P

And preferably the original Mk1, one that avoided the recall for ESP and the ugly little boot spoiler. It's not like lift-off oversteer was going to be a huge problem for the average Irish TT driver anyway.

I've actually been looking at them lately. It's not a bad package, 225BHP, Quattro, cheapish tax for smallish money. Would definitely get some stick from the lads but it's pretty tempting.
