Google redirecting to Google Hungary

Hey everyone,

Hope someone here can help me with this. Basically last night I whenever I hit the home button on Firefox it would bring me to Google.hu and changed the language. My homepage is set to google.com and this would normally redirect me to Google Ireland which I have set up with my own background, but instead it's just redirecting me to google.hu even when I'm logged into my google account.

I looked up this and people said it was probably due to malware but I scanned my computer using Malwarebytes and it showed up nothing. I also checked my IP address to see if it was for some reason in Hungary but no, it's in Ireland.

Any ideas what's causing this?

if you type "google" into google, does it show you google.ie? or .hu?

Google bases it's localisation on your region/language settings. Make sure they are set correctly in Control Panel.

Is this at home or at work? If its at work is their webserver in Hungary? Possible reason for it happening.

clear your cache and internet history. Sometimes google and facebook go into Polish if my girlfriend has been using my laptop.

Thanks for all the replies.

It seems to only be a problem with my internet at home in Limerick, back in Dublin now using a dongle and it goes to google.ie

www.google.com/ncr should bring you to the main google webpage instead of the auto-detected regional one.
