hi all, i'm very confused over the student grant.. firstly i attended one year in college level6/7 in 2007/08 but i failed a summer exam and never repeated it.. I have been working full time since.. I applied to college this year level 6/7 as a mature student and i got my place but as i work full time i assume i'm entitled to nothing..?
I am considering trying to defer the course in order to save some more money... but the job i am currently working in is struggling and im not sure if i will be left go in sept as i already had to take a pay cut etc....

I also wounder if i were to try and defer the course would i just tell the college the truth that i cant afford it this year or would they not accept this as an excuse..
i would really appriciate any advice...
    thanks

If you're applying for a level 7/8 course you should be entitled to free again as a 'Second Chance Student' as you should be out of education 5 years from when you left

You won't be out of college 5 years as you sat your summer exams in 2008. looks like you will have to do an equivalent period of study ie first year without a grant.
