    Hi all,

I will be starting the midwifery course as a mature student in TCD this September, and am really looking forward to it. However it is a long time since I left school and I am a little worried about the course work as in essays, assignment's ect. It's so long since I had to write an essay I really wouldn't know where to begin!! So I'm wondering do TCD hold a academic writing course for new entrants before the course begins, I know UCD have one in august for their new students which I heard is really helping when its comes to planning and writing essays and assignments later on, really hope I can get some help with this before starting the course.

All advice would be really appreciated.

I'm pretty sure there's workshops to do with essay writing and study tips during the mature student orientation week. There's always plenty of essay workshops etc. around exams times put on by the student learning office (I think?). They have a drop in service too.

Here's some information. Might ease your mind: http://www.tcd.ie/Admissions/undergraduate/about-tcd/learning-supports.php
