Chris Hyatte?

Very random, obscure question that maybe one person may know since I never keep up with the 'IWC' anymore, aside from reading here tbh. (Is the 'IWC' still a thing even?)

Does anyone know what happened to the old 411 writer, Chris Hyatte? I was a massive fan back in the day when I used to write for wrestling websites as a teen, and this guy was a massive influence for me (writing-wise). He probably still is, in some way.

I know he left 411 to go to the breakaway site, then left that and just started a blog, but as far as I can remember he shut that down and disappeared. Long shot...but can anyone here tell me if he's popped up elsewhere? A quick Google search gave me nothing. I'd love to read some of his stuff. Or even the likes of FLEA, Grut, Eric S etc. Not Scott Keith, though, I was definitely on Team Hyatte in that war (don't even know if anyone will get that reference).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help or even understands the words I just typed! :)

THe last thing I remember was that Hyatte fell for the guy that was on the net passing herself off as Trish. He later started printing columns from who he swore was Tammy Sytch, only to find out after weeks of printing "Tammy's" columns that it was just some guy ribbing him.

The Insidepulse spilt happened blah, blah and then showed up on that cesspool Declaration of Independents website. Hasn't been seen for like 5 years.

Haha oh yeah, I remember that. In fairness, he held his hands up and admitted it when it came out, but that was funny. There was always some drama. Kinda karma for all he'd done to everyone else too, I remember he outed Wade Keller too and caught a ton of stick for it. That was another low. I remember he got one of his readers to chat up Scott Keith, cringey but hilarious.

The Mop-Ups were legendary though. Tweeting before Twitter was invented. I hope he pops up again, he's messed up but he knows how to make wrestling and all things around it fun.

He was funny and had his own writing style which cant be said for the vast, vast majority.

Agreed. When I was 15, I was a little Hyatte rip-off myself. Any idea about the rest of them? I wouldn't be surprised to see Eric S still going. He used to go on at times but was really astute when he got motoring. He knew he wasn't a wrestler so kept to the business side of things, so he stood out. He did a guest bit in a big column that I did, I asked him to write a paragraph or so and he came back with 1,000 words the next day, then plugged the hell out of it in his news column. That was a massive deal to
me back then, ha. Really cool guy.

Woah. That has really brought back memories. I haven't been on 411 in a decade, literally. Does it still exist, because for some reason the link I'm gettin through Google isn't taking me anywhere? Used to always check that site in the evenings, back in the days of dial-up, ha!

Haha yeah, I used to log online for a half hour every night, click all of the articles I wanted to read, then I could read them offline. Good times. Think it's still going, I was subscribed to their RSS until a few months ago. Wrote for them for a few months too years back. Nice, professional setup there. I hope they're still doing well!

I was looking through it, it doesn't look as healthy these days. I seem to recall it being a lot more comprehensive. Was it always linked to sections about popular culture in general? Seems like there's some cool info on there, but as a true mark I'll say, "It was better when..."

I know when I was leaving they were really trying to roll out the politics and writer blogs sections, but IIRC they didn't really know what they wanted to do with the writer section. I presume they either have it sorted or scrapped by now, since that would've been 8-odd years ago! It was becoming very mass production too: churning out Top 10 Lists like no tomorrow but not really taking time to come up with creative, interesting stuff. That said, they were very happy to let writers try new stuff so that was good too (they let me start a Mania daily countdown thing and a Book Club there). They wanted clicks more than anything else. But again, that was a transition time. I joined almost immediately after Hyatte et al left, so they could've completely revamped it for all I know. Probably have.

Like I said, I hope they're doing well. It fills a big void. That was my only source for music, video games, movies and my main resource for wrestling news for years and they covered it all thoroughly and entertainingly. I remember the Ask 411 Movie guy was an absolute fountain of knowledge and had a story to back each answer up.

Did you guys know there's a Facebook page for ScoopThis?

It's relatively new, but maybe that would be a good starting point, since Hyatte used to write there.
