upc series record problem

I have Coronation St (UTV) on series record on my upc Digital + box.

Last Friday I noticed it didn't record the 7:30 episode but it recorded the 8:30 one alright. I just regarded it as a one-off glitch. But tonight I noticed it didn't record the 7:30 episode again but I noted that the 8:30 show remained in the list to be recorded. But it subsequently ignored that one as well.

Has anyone else had this problem with Corrie or any other series?

I'd ask upc themselves but I expect they won't have a clue. Any time I encounter an issue out of the ordinary they are out of their depth.

    Cheers.

You're bang on there, they won't have a clue and if you push them to fix the problem, their answer will be to offer to send an 'engineer' to your house even though in my case, it would have been impossible to reproduce the problem, documented here...

This also happened to me,the box started missing the odd program or two, then it became a regular thing, until it stopped recording altogether, had the box replaced last Thursday.

That's what I'm afraid of. I don't want to replace it as it's over 90% full of stuff I haven't watched yet.

It also refused to record later last night so I unplugged it and rebooted. It worked after that. For how long is anyone's guess.

Will upc ever let you keep the defective box to watch your recorded items or will they assume you're just going to use it as a second free box in another room?

It's a pity that the recording and receiving elements are not physically separate from the hard disk storage. Then you could add or remove storage at will. And they wouldn't have to replace the entire equipment every time they had a failure.

I should say,it also lost everything I had recorded.
And no I can't see UPC letting you keep the box.
