    Was in Cork this week and went to watch some of the golf on at Fota. Free entry and you get to see some great golf. I see that the winner Elliot Saltman shot a course record today 61. The Tour goes to Concra Wood in Monaghan next week so if anyone is able to make it i would recommend heading there for a few hours at least. I know its not the same as watching our more illustrious stars but as i said its free and the standard is quite high.

    I went yesterday for a few hours. Hardly anyone there watching. Was great to see these guys up close.

    Followed paul cutler for a few holes. Super player, the distance he hits off the tee is something else. It showed the other side of the pro lifestyle, these guys trying to get a big break. Cutler had no caddy & was pulling his own bag. I was the only person following the group which was a strange feeling. Couldn't make it today, hopefully the crowds picked up.

    Hello all,

    Our prayers for good weather for the Europro event were answered last week, there were some dark clouds looming but we avoided any bad weather, thankfully. The atmosphere began brilliantly at the beginning of the week for the Pro-am and thankfully it continued right through to the end. The standard of golf was truly amazing, the distance and accuracy that all of the players were able to achieve off of the tee was something else!

    Going into the second day Michael Collins from Mallow was right in contention, it was really exciting to have a local so high up in the leader board. He played very well over the three days but he was unfortunate that there were so many players also on form for the event.

    Elliot Saltman was on a high going into the event after qualifying for the Open and he carried that momentum very well. I watched him for a short while on the last day and he was playing with real confidence. His 61 was phenomenal as you can imagine, however it is not counted as a course record as all of the players were using preferred lies throughout the duration of the event.

    For anyone who missed the action, the event will be broadcast on Sky Sports on Wednesday, July 18 at the following times;
    11:30am-1:30pm, Sky Sports 1
    3:30pm-5:30pm, Sky Sports 2
    8pm-10pm, Sky Sports 4
    Midnight-2am Thurs 19, Sky Sports 2

    Denis
