How do you train?

Maybe a bit late for a Friday thread?

After reading Lenny's thread regarding his planned purchase of a power meter, it got me wondering about the different training methods, and how many people are actually following strict plans.

I have a GPS computer with a HRM, but don't use it to it's full capacity, it's just another statistic I look at when I upload it after a spin, and although it was bought with good intentions, I just find it hard to stick to a HRM based training plan like this when training with others, and find cycling alone for long distances a bit boring. It probably doesn't fit in mid-season anyway. So now I just ride as fast as I can until I blow up and start to feel sore.

So how do you guys train? Power meter? HRM? Perceived effort?
