Making a car a "commercial" spec, for tax reasons

Something said to me last week got me thinking.
Is the only thing that needs doing to a car, to register it as a commercial, is to permenantly and irreversably remove the back seats?

If so; could you get a good size engined coupe, with pretty useless back seats and make it a "commercial" by removing these?

Totally off the wall thought and there probably is a rule to prevent just that

To legally go down the commercial tax route there are a few rules:
    - Rear seats removed,
    - rear seat belt mounting welded over
    - loading bay must be X% of the wheelbase
    - you must be registered with a tax number
    - you must have commercial insurance
    - you cannot drive it for domestic/pleasure (or else you must pay private tax)
    - there is a grey area that you can only drive it day-time/Mon-Fri unless you are a 24/7 service provider

    Not worth it

Plenty of vehicles you described as "commrcials"

    Steel false floor
    No rear side windows
    All holes welded in

    Engineers report
    Tax office inspection
    DOE
Someone stupid enough to declare it as a van :pac:

Bear in mind if you are caught using the van for anything other than a commercial use it will be taken off you. I have a van that I converted myself, but it's privately taxed.
