Buying Canyons in shops

    Hi,

I was just wondering. has anyone here ever got a 'small' bike shop to order in a canyon for them so that they can use their bike2work.ie on it, in return for paying back the extra commission and buying other bits'n'bobs in their shop?

I think I remember reading somewhere about another boards member at least thinking about doing it, although I'm not too sure if anything every materialised.

    Thanks

If it's against the rules asking things like this, I apologise in advance!

The bike shop would have to pay full wake for the canyon and make no money from the sale, cant see it happening

I tried to get one, the commission was quite high but the main problem was the implications with the warranty, in case something went wrong with the bike, the bike shop would have to deal with it and they weren't really eager to do that.

You can get a canyon with a discount by using a racing licence as well.

Yeah, I think the commission is 100 quid or something. Can you get a discount using a racing licence for a roadlite, or is that just for frames?

You are right, the discount is only for frames. http://www.canyon.com/_en/service/sponsoring.html

That's a shame, I was hoping you were right! They don't have any TdF specials for the roadlite either!!

Can your company use something other than bike2work.ie? your allowed buy from websites if your company are willing to do that, mine were (I bought from my LBS but the option was there).

To be clear, any "discount" or "commission repaid to the purchaser" reduces the price paid for the bike, and the amount on which tax relief is available

Discount on frames is irrelevant for the BTW scheme as it only applies to complete bikes and certain safety accessories

If you want to discuss BTW rules, do so in the mega-thread. If you want to ask where to buy Canyons continue in this thread

Sorry to Hijack the thread didn't want to start a new one on buying a bike.

I'm looking at the CF 9.0 but won't have the cash till end of August. Does anyone know when the 2013 range is announced. Don't want to fork out €2000 and a few weeks later a new one is announced.

They apparantly launched in October for their 2010, 2011 and 2012 bike ranges so it'll probably be October again for the 2013 bikes.

edit - most of the bikes probably won't be immediately available on the launch date. In fact, last year some of them were available no sooner than 4 months after the launch date.
