Blowing noise from 2011 2.0 Diesel Mondeo

A few months ago a low "pop pop" sound developed in the exhaust sound of the Mondeo while idling. The noise was worse if the car was parked between 2 walls.
In the last few week I brought this to the attention of the Ford Dealer.
They agreed there was a noise. They said they pressure tested the exhaust and it was ok. They felt the noise was coming from the air intake side of the engine. There was no faults found so they referred the problem back to Ford.
Ford suggested a series of checks and a complete check of the air intake side of the engine.
Results was there was nothing in particular found and now the line is they all sound that way.

I haven't got the car back yet but to me a noise is a noise an indication of a problem which is there but not yet identified.

    Any ideas?
