Worth purchasing Demon's Souls now?

    I saw Demon's Souls for £10 secondhand the last day I was in Derry. Was tempted to get it, but I remembered reading the servers were meant to be shut down at some point.
    So was wondering, did they get shut down and is it a good game to play without the online side if they are shut down?

    It's worth buying, as online or not it's still one of the great games of this console generation!

    As far as I know only the US servers were scheduled to shut down, and I recall Atlus sending on a message that they decided not to in the end for some reason. So yeah, you'll be grand for a while anyway.

    Cool! Hope it's there next time I'm down now. But will keep an eye out for it. Was the server thing that was putting me off since I remember thinking it was a cool feature

    £10? It's the best PS3 exclusive game and one of the best of all time. Just give it a fair go. It takes a huge amount of getting used to but it becomes one of the most rewarding experiences in gaming.

    I'd highly recommend it for a tenner. Even if you get no further than the first level it'll be a good experience! :P

    And I think that both EU and NA servers are staying up indefinitely now. They kept pushing it back due to popularity so they've decided to just leave it as is.

    Bought this yesterday. Another one to add to my backlog.

    Oh and it was actually the Black Phantom edition for £10. :)

    Much better. It's Demon's Souls with the few design creases ironed out. I'd recommend Demon's Souls first. If you start with Dark Souls you might find Demon's Souls to be a tad cumbersome in some regards.

    I'd second that -
    Demon's souls is clunky and the controls don't feel as responsive -
    On the plus side, I started with Demon's Souls and it was amazing - loved every minute - The online aspect won't ruin your experience. It helps in places but sometimes it helps not to be online.

    I personally found Demon's Souls twice or thrice as difficult as Dark Souls (having spent 30+ hours on each)

    I dont think it was because I was used to a game either - Demon's Souls is worth €10 any day of the week. I dont think i'll be trading in my copy either (even though I own Dark Souls).

    Just as long as the wiki page stays up then i'll be all right :F
