Aer Lingus announced today that they would resume there daily DUB-CPH from 28 October. Up aginst SK and DY which combined offer 15 weekly flights this winter. A overkill in my option. They also announced extra capacity on LPA, TFS, VIE, AMS, SXF as well as VER, ARN contuining for winter and VCE and BDO going year round.

Is there any other rumours about new carriers/rotues for this winter or following summer. Particualy US and Asia routes. DUB seems to be very boaring these days...and quiet

I wish Aer Lingus or Ryanair would do some direct flights to Cyprus. I reckon it would be a good winter-sun destination.

Ya see the problem with codes for airports is that when they go wrong, they go wrong

BDO = Husein Sastranegara Airport, Indonesia (Apparently)

I think you probably mean BOD, Bordeaux :D

Also, the DUB-MCO service is getting an extra frequency. Its currently running at X2 weekly for summer with an A333. It will be increasing to X3 weekly from summer 2013. Now, if anyone could clarify weather the A333 is staying on the route, that would be great. Most likely it will be will be downgraded to A332.

Not quite sure what happened this Dublin to Orlando service. It had operated until march as a three times a week service, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. It was then cut to the Tuesday and Saturday flights only, yet these flights appear to be jam packed and leaving passengers traveling via other routes to Orlando due to lack of direct capacity. Thought this route would do very well over the summer months given its a family ðestination primarily.

The Airbus A332 just has less capacity then the A333. But then again, the A332 has further range.

Dublin to Orlando service.......its a family destination primarily.

Exactly, so yields are more likely to be lower than on other routes which are less dependent on such leisure traffic.

Essentially, with the 5 A330s the airline has based at Dublin, it believes it can make more money on routes to BOS, JFK and ORD.

With the June figures showing a 92% Load Factor and increased passenger yields on last year, EI Long Haul is doing quite well. :)

That is probably correct, but that doesn't explain why they would increase the service when the peak season to Orlando has expired. Surely keep it at the same frequency or even less. I think the price was also a huge factor. Aer lingus have been consistently selling seats at 800 euros return approx for a standard date, not July 4th etc... Delta/united have been 100-200 cheaper. I think Aer lingus reduced capacity, and then upped the prices as there are now less direct flights, the exact flights that families especially with young children, would be after.

Kinda off topic but I thought I should post this:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/transport/9384218/Aer-Lingus-to-bid-for-UK-slots-at-Heathrow.html

Aer Lingus to bid for UK slots at Heathrow

er Lingus is considering an expansion into domestic flights in Britain in a clear signal to Ryanair that it is pursuing its own growth strategy and has no intention of submitting to a takeover.

The Irish flag carrier is lining up a bid for some of the 12 Heathrow take-off and landing-slots available after the acquisition of bmi by British Airways in March.

Aer Lingus intends to offer flights between Edinburgh and Heathrow. Applications are due next month.

Virgin Atlantic will also compete for the slots. Virgin will unveil plans today also to offer flights between London and Moscow, if it wins the slots. International Airlines Group, BA’s parent company, agreed with the European Commission to give up 14 slot pairs as a condition of its takeover of bmi.

Two of those slot pairs are leased to Russian carrier Transaero. The EC will take the final decision over which airline gets the extra slots.
