    hi,

i am writing to find out is it possible to get prepaid meters installed on a premises that we own and rent out, the tenants have not being paying their bills and the debt then falls with us, which is not fair, this has happened a couple of times and this seems to be the best route! could you please advise?

    Thank You,

    Hello Richie,

If you have tenants taking over a premises you should ensure that they also take over the electricity account in the property. This would ensure that any debt accrued would be the responsibility of the tenant.

With regards to installing a prepaid meter, generally these are only installed as a last resort. The determination of customer eligibility for a PAYG meter is governed by the Commission for Energy Regulation's (CER) decisions and directions. If you would like to provide the account details by PM, I can pass the details on to the relevant department and arrange a call back for you. We would need your name, address, telephone and confirmation that you are the named account holder.

    Regards,
    Mark
