    Hi there,

Im buying one of these on saturday and seen as this motor forum has been a good location for advice for me over the last few years i said id throw a quick thread up and see what the opinions are.

Theres feck all mileage 50K miles or so.

What do people think of this car, and in particular the engine? Are they reliable and what parts are likely to go?

    Thanks alot!
    Neil

I was only looking at something very similar myself a couple of weeks ago. Lovely looking car and very nice to drive but the tax and fuel consumption were just too much. Also with this particular car there was a bit of a rattle/scraping when the car was idling?

I drive an 2005 Accord 2.0 petrol, in SE trim. I bought it with pretty high mileage, but with full honda service history etc, and it was in great condition and all I have done in four and half years of ownership is the normal service by the book with Honda, couple of bulbs (front side lights), and stuff like viper blades, new tyres etc. We are planning to keep that car for another while as it's perfect for our driving.

Probably getting around 35-40 mpg approximately, and tax is 660 for the year.

the engines in the accords are bomb proof, at that mileage tbh the car is barely run in.

if its a documented service history you cant go far wrong.

    (apart from buying a 2.4 instead :p)

should be just a nice purrrrrrrrrrrrr when idling.

no weird noises, but that counts for almost any car.

the only noises when idling that should be heard is the a/c compressor kicking in if its turned on.

    That's a bit expensive.

I'm selling a 07 type s with the same miles for feck all more than that.

I've put 70,000 km on it in two years.

Regular oil and filter changes, changed brake pads and tyres. They are about as reliable as it gets.

why not get a executive model, the base ones are a bit scamp on features.

I was looking at the executive. But the Sport version is the one just below it. and i dont think i can pass up such low mileage to be honest!

still has half leather seats etc.

Ill take a pic tomorrow Im getting it then.

Has anyone any particular advice about checking the validity of the service history. Should I ring all garages and check with them? (seen as the milleage is unusually low).

    Thanks for the input!!

You can probably look how good/tired the interiors are and get a feel about the mileage. At around 80k miles, I had to change the rubber on the brake pedal as it had worn thru to the metal. You can also look at the odometer reading in the last few NCT certificates to see if it all adds up, and perhaps ring the Honda garage that did the most of the services in the service book, if it has full Honda service history. I am sure others might chime along with more tips and suggestions.

Yes, ring the garages that serviced it to verify what they did and at what mileage. Also run a motorcheck or cartell report which will tell you if it had any insurance claims made for accident/flood damage as well as outstanding finance.

I would not use wear of the interior as an indication of use, these days it is easy to rack up big mileage on cars and the interiors are still spotless.

I had one for 7 years and apart from timing belt, tires, oil and fuel it needed nothing done to it in 140km. Super car

The OP is talking about the 2003 to 2008 model Accord. Smallest engine in them was 2.0 litre and to my knowledge they were all fitted with a timing chain.
