Flying the new Dublin to Washington route in early September with United Continental, anyone know if they use AVOD? Don't fancy looking at an overhead monitor for 7+ hours and was thinking of buying an ipod or something but if they have AVOD I wont bother. Cheers

I flew fron SNN with them in 2010, yes they did have personal screens, headphones were in bits though, the f/a had a major job trying to find a decent pair for me, the plane internally was a "bucket" but the food and the service was excellent.

Not all the deltas have AVOD, trust me you don't want to be flying without it! Flew from dub to JFK

Yep pretty much, the whole united fleet is equipt, unfortunately neither delta or the other us carriers fly their best aircraft in, united or are lingus for AVOD guaranteed

thanks, I'd prefer wide body A330 with EI but they are the most expensive in Jan 2013

I'd suggest one of these http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Airplane-Headphone-Earphone-3-5-Jack-Socket-Double-Adapter-for-Plane-use-/170745426017?pt=UK_TravelTickets_Accessories_RL&hash=item27c1387061#ht_1560wt_1271

Continental in the past had a double input with a detachable jack so you could use your own earphones as airline ones are terrible quality but just in case the ones you get are fused (like these http://best-b2b.com/userimg/452/468-1/airline-headphone-673.jpg) it's handy to have one of the above so you can use your own (assuming you have a decent pair).
