    hi

i just got my JSA accepted today and have been told i will be getting 100 per week from tomorrow but i have been getting paid 144 since febuary from supplementary welfare allowance? does anyone know why it has gone down to 100? maybe because when i was getting supplementary welfare i was not living with my mother and was renting a room somewhere else?

i am 21 and am now living back with my mother as i could not afford to rent elsewhere. it's just me and her in the house and she's only getting 200 a week from her part time job. so it's hard enough paying bills rent etc without that extra 44 euro that i will be loosing out on

    cheers!

Note 4: Under 25 rates for Jobseeker's Allowance

"those making a claim for Jobseeker's Allowance where that claim is linked to a Jobseeker's Allowance claim made within the previous 12 months to which the maximum personal rate applied;"

i was getting 144 from SWA for nearly 6 months, i wonder if that's the same thing?

No, it's not the same thing.

Sounds like the Community Welfare Officer made a mistake and was paying you at the wrong rate.

If you are 21, you should have only been getting €100 p/w.

It will go up to €144 when you turn 22.

Citizens info have a page on SWA here:
    http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/supplementary_welfare_schemes/supplementary_welfare_allow.html

Says the max SWA for a 21 year old is €100 too.

€144 seems to be for 22-24 year olds in SWA and JSA. I wonder did they think you were older when you first applied for SWA?

Are you sure the €144 was entirely made up of SWA and not a combination of SWA and rent supplement or something?
