    He's been top brass in the GAA for a couple of months at this stage, what are peoples' opinions of him at this stage?

    Seems to be pretty progressive to me, looking hard for ways to improve football at least (I assume he's looking hard at hurling too being a hurling man himself). Creating a committee to look at the football rule book with a view to positive changes and inviting suggestions from the public is a fairly novel move and at least shows he's not detached from the masses.

    Anything I've heard him speak about he seems to have a fair bit of honesty and a fair bit of passion on which is nice to see. I guess overall I've been pretty impressed with him.

    Anyone else got an opinion?

    Initial impressions are positive but its a bit early to tell really, could be all talk just as easy.

    Didnt think he handled the whole twitter abuse very well, all he achieved was giving the idiots who tweeted the attention they were seeking.

    In fairness to the Tweeters Liam O'Neill could do something about the draw to make it look less like a Fr. Ted's raffle. A few cannisters, that are hardly moved before being drawn, clearly visible to the person making the draw, does not give a lot of confidence. Swap the cannisters for balls with the names in them. Put them into a container that can't be seen into from above, but can be seen from the front, so we can see what is going on, while the person making the draw can't. Make them give the balls a good swirl or have the thing be able to spin itself before a ball is picked. It is not rocket science to do something like that. Maybe they've been waiting for the Higgs boson to be found in order to come up with something better. Well, now they have no more excuse.

    Its all well and good making the changes to hurling and football but the standard of refereeing needs to be looked at. Some of the refereeing decisions of late both in hurling and football have been baffling to say the least - Michael Duffy allowing the Monaghan goal to stand recently, Syl Doyle not sending off the Down player v Fermanagh etc; etc;
    Take the time keeping off referees for a start, why not have it done on a buzzer like the ladies football. At least then the referee can concentrate on the game. The role of umpires needs to be clearer - can they or can they not make decisions (other than whether its a goal or a point) to advise the referee?
    Sorry went off on a tangent there but at the moment refereeing is the big problem, tackle that first and then look at the sports themselves

    I always favoured the machine that spins the balls for the lottery or Winning Streak.Have each ball the same colour but one you can open to pull out the piece of paper with the county name on it.

    if only he would smile more. i always rememebr seeing him in leinster championship programmes presenting soem poor kid with a trophy or cerificate like he was suffering from acute IBS. i was wondering if he wasnt really there in many of the pics, and that the Leinster Council were using a prop or a photoshop, as he always, no matter what, had the exact same look on his face.
