For some reason the other thread was closed (whatever is the reason), so here is another, completely same (without question mark) just with different numbers in date column.

Your original post was in reply to a post made in 2008 about buying a micra. It may have been well intended but its unlikely the potential buyer was waiting for the past 4 years for your reply.

As it stands, your post didn't really add any value to thread, unless you count how to dangerously carry ikea furniture in a small car.

The trouble with digging up dead threads is that other boards users see the thread, respond without seeing the date, get annoyed, its all a bit of a waste of time. That's why we close them before someone gets hurt ;-)

So is this a real thread asking about the Nissan Micra or a stunt thread?

The Micra is a great learner car, and a very reliable small engined car that can be bought for reasonable money, insured cheaply, and doesn't cost much to run. It can handle more than you'ld imagine - we took one up Hardknott pass, the steepest road in the UK, though it was hell and thankfully no one came against us. Drove for hours through heavy flooding and not a bother.

For some reason they come with fog lights, and it's very easy to have them lit because the stalk is poorly designed - you'll see a lot of Micras with the fogs on, and most of the time the drivers are unaware. Long journeys won't be much fun, but daily driving is fine. I wouldn't want to drive one now, but if I had to it wouldn't be a chore.

They have a rep - just like BMWs, Audi A4s, VW Golfs, Ford Focus' - every car has a marketed demographic so people think of them as having a type. That's marketing, and how people buy into that. If that kind of thing bothers you then use public transport or taxis or your own private helicopter.

Well, it's changed a bit now.
The old shape Micra used to be driven solely by doddery auld dears at 40 km/h with usually a mile of traffic behind it.
This will prompt people on seeing a Micra approach to floor it in order to get out ahead of it at any cost whatsoever, or never to let one out of a sidestreet, because you will drive the rest of your trip at 40 km/h.
This has changed now, most of them where bought up by young, male drivers (for some strange reason, there must be a lot less testosterone around these days) and are now observed to be amongst the fastest things on the road.
I was doing near enough 140 km/h on the motorway when one flew past me as if I was standing still.
So the perception of the Micra has changed quite a bit.
Not sure what the grannies are driving, any ideas? Yaris seems to be popular anyway.

I thought they were quite popular with younger lads, maybe passed on from a relative as the value from a sale is not equal to a functional car (maybe) and its cheaper to insure/tax?
    What mark passed you K1?

Was the MkII, 92 to 03. Yes, lots driven by young guys these days.
Used to be mostly a grannymobile.

well... I wasn't replying to anybody's post.. I was posting in Nissan Micra thread a picture ;) ... and as you could saw from the picture, there is nothing dangerous about carrying that piece of furniture like that, because it would be a miracle if it would fell out of the car.

I bought it because it is relatively big and has the smallest possible engine (and looks ok.. besides my ex-gf had one of them and I have good memories... - no, you can't have sex in it but bonnet will always do :D)... and because I knew I will buy a second car after some time I have now more money to feed that 3.0 V6.

Like two years ago I drove it to Dublin and I did 180kmh for good 50kms so it could have been me :P

I thought that it was me that was collared for replying to an old post, but realised I replied to a recent posting (ie you :))
I blame you for making me post, thank god you were in there before me, now i can direct my ire at someone else!
I'm still not sure what the issue of reviving an old thread is really, if something is relevant, Micra thread? , micra picture?

I think the old threads has to be closed so there can be another with same topic created... so if you want to discuss something about Airtricity you search for like ten minutes to find the suitable one.

micra is brilliant, great nissan options if you know what you're doing and have a huge shoe horn to plup a bigger engine in... ( 1.6 from a sunny would make it super quick, but needs more invested to handle it :/ )

the k10 R is one of my favorite cars of all time though...

It looks like its right up on the seats. It wont fall out the back, but there's a good chance it'd wallop you in the head if you braked. Or impale you if someone rear ended you
