Washing machine is not getting enough water from my system

Hi I had a washing machine installed last night, and I put on a wash straight away. When it finished the clothes had powder all over them and were barely wet. So I watched it next time, and there is an initial feed of water at the beginning, but not enough water going in through the wash cycle.

The washing machine is perfect, I know that works, it's my sisters old one.

I'm just wondering is there something up with the pressure in my system?
I took a look at the pressure gauge near the immersion cylinder and the orange hand is at 1 and the black hand is at 3???
Does that pressure sound right, would there be a leak?

    Thanks

The gauge is for your central heating system, check for kinks in the hose feeding the WM, also make sure you're putting the soap in the wash compartment and not the rinse one.

I would forget about the washing machine and deal with the over-pressurization of your heating system. The read dial is only a marker of where the pressure should be at. The black dial is the actual pressure and if you have 3 bar, it will certainly left the PRV when the system heats up. You need to drain some water from the system and bring it back to 1 bar when cold. Ensure if you have an automatic fill valve, this is turned completely off once the correct pressure is set. If you have a filling loop, then ensure it is in the off position and disconnect and blank the flexible hose entry/exits points.

If you see an initial amount of water enter the machine but the wash ends with washing powder on the cloths then check the cold water supply/pipe. Machines with hot and cold fill pipes can initally fill with some hot water but when it comes to rinse it will require cold water, if it doesnt get it it can either stop mid cycle or finish un rinsed.

Your heating presure as nothing to do with the machine, follow Shanes advice with that problem.

Is it possible it was damaged in transit from your sisters?

washing machines have a built in pressure chamber and switch this could be choked up with gunge.the machine will not operate until it gets the correct amount of water. clean out the pressure chamber and filter .
    hope this helps.
