Hi. I have a Mac pro with 8 ram slots. 4 of them in use with 4 x 2gb sticks. The other 4 are empty. I have sourced 4 more sticks of 2gb ddr2 on adverts. It may be different manufacturer but cant be sure. I want to put this ram in the 4 empty slots. Do you think this might be viable!? Thanks.

Could we have specs of the mac? The model? Is the RAM the same clock speed?

Mac use Samsung Ram which is very dear,

what you can do is get good Ram off

    http://www.crucial.com/eu/store/drammemory.aspx?gclid=COTpqLSjgrECFZNc4QoddCFg6A&cpe=pd_google_ie&ef_id=GBVP9WWq39UAABRO:20120705100010:s

I gets my Ram off them all the time, if your not to sure what type of RAM you need well you can download a program off their site which will scan you Computer HardWare and give you back the type of Ram for your computer.

If the RAM is the exact same, then there should be no problems plugging it in. And that model mac can handle up to 32GB RAM so you've no worries

It will work grand, once DDR2. Note that if the RAM you baught is a lower speed then all the RAM will run at that speed. Bught having multiple brands is in most cases not problematic (So you could have Samsung & Micron/Crucial, OCZ and Corsair etc.)
