    Hi guys,

Building a roadbike and was looking at some Road Bars to get for the build. I see two distinct styles.

The round shaped curve and a the more angular shaped drop bars.

What are the pro's and cons of each?

    Thanks,
    -B

Ergo (angular) drops have one very comfortable position and several very uncomfortable positions.

Conventional (smooth radius) drops have a range of equally (un)comfortable positions.

Depends on how much you like to vary the reach.

Best thing is to buy very cheap bars so it won't cost too much to experiment.

What do you prefer yourself Lumen?

    Roundy ones. They look better.

And I prefer angular ones for the same reason.

Changed from ergo to compact (roundy with a shorter drop distance) over the winter and find them great, but I guess it's all personal preference. I can happily cycle all day mostly in the drops on the compact bars, whereas I found it more tiring on the ergo bars. I also put a small bit of extra padding in my main positions in the drops and tops when I re-taped the bars recently, which also adds to the comfort.

    Pics or GTFO.

Someone (it may have been me) posted a guide to drop bar geometries a while ago.

    edit: this was probably it:
