Just got into this show this week. Really enjoyable, kind of like flying wild Alaska but aith less snow and more Lions.

    Anyone else watching it?

Yeah I started watching from Wednesday don't know how many episodes I missed but really enjoying it too. I think I know the Irish lad in it from when I was doing my PPL at Weston.

Why do they call it bush Pilots

I always associated the bush with Australia (no giggles or sniggers please :D)

Ignoring the slightly over the top commentary. It's a good show of it's type. Gives a real insight into the job. Looks like fun flying. But I would ignore the pieces where the pilot goes off hunting antelope. That has to be the exception. I'm sure they work long days with fast turnarounds.

One thing wannabees should note is how subjective the recruitment process is. The ex Ryanair guy was eliminated because they were suspicious of his motives. We knew because he told the TV people. But not his potential employer. Big mistake. The Irish guy on the other hand. The comment was 'We don't know much about him'.

What many pilots don't realise is that for small operators they are being interviewed the moment they show their face and every time they show their face. It might surprise some to realise that you can often spot a good pilot before they even sit in a plane. Attitude is very important. That doesn't just apply to operators in Africa.

Seen it myself here. You also have to be lucky, right place right time. Turning up a lot and hanging around increases your chances of that 'lucky' break.

FWA is back on. It's the 3rd season, episode 4 so far. I like it, but like all aviation-related prgramming, it's made to look like they're always about to die and then ok again!

Ice Pilots NWT has finished filming season 4. They're editing now to air it in October :)

Only caught Bush Pilots last night. Does anyone know if the earlier episodes are repeated on any of the other UK TV channels - Dave just seems to repeat the previous nights episode 16 times the following day and no earlier ones. ;)

No this is a Dave production and a premiere. No doubt it will be repeated forever on Dave. Ten years from now when all the major characters are Captains we'll still be seeing them in the prime of their youth.

Meant UKTV as in the company rather than any general UK stations.
I actually remember some researcher sending messages to everyone from my old flight school on Facebook a year or two back looking to follow anyone considering going to Maun and I know quite a few people currently there so eagerly looking for familiar faces on it. :)

Great program. I would only love to work there, flying singles all day long, tough enviroment, dealing with people. And also a great preparation and hour building for future jobs

You don't have to go to Africa to do a similar job.:)

If Thomas the Irish guy is reading this. He should realise where he went wrong. If you're potential employer says 'We don't know much about him' Then there's a problem with how he presents himself.

A lesson there for all you rookies.
