HTC ONE X problem after flashing CM9

    Basically my problem is this.

Did all the steps, installed the files from the SD card zip files via cwm and not cyanogenmod 9 stays on the second booth screen after the HTC one.

It won't allow me to go to recovery although on a reboot I see a slight flash of cwm.

What are my options? Is this fixable? I am completely new to this and followed steps exactly...well at least I thought I did!

What happens if you turn the phone on while holding the volume down button?

It goes to the white screen and gives options for fast boot etc.

Recovery option does not work here.

go into bootloader (use volume buttons to move, power button to select)
try reinstalling the rom.. might also be worth re-putting the rom on your phone and or re-downloading it also incase there was an error there and it isnt a full rom you are trying to put on it.

either way try a reinstall/reflash first

once you get to there do what was said in the install instructions.. probably clearing dalvik cache, etc...
once you have bootloader you are fine anyways and will get it working soon mate.. dont panic

    EDIT:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkR0eNR19yo&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PLE2DDBFE798297A04

guy here seems to know what hes doing. 9:40 in it kinda seems where you wanna go. he recommends clearing cache and dalvik cache and then rebooting to fix loops.
quick look seems complicated though since he's using cmd prompt to do stuffs... not that easy get used to terminals for stuff like this if u hafnt used em before :)

I've gotten into cwm but no look getting rid of the loop when I reboot.

I have cleared the cache and dalvik cache via commands, fast boot flashed the boot image and reinstalled cwm but no luck.

<stupidquestion> Did you wipe the old ROM before installing the new one? </stupidquestion>

    I followed the steps here:
    http://www.theandroidsoul.com/cyanogenmod-9-cm9-for-htc-one-x-is-here/

I did forget to erase the cache/dalvik cache or create a back-up even, although the back-up is not really required.

When I turn it on I get the HTC Screen, the circular animation CM screen and then it goes to the CyanogenMod 9 screen and just stays there.

And the only stupid thing here is yours truely:D

Just checking all avenues, MC. I didn't say you were stupid. :)
How long did you leave it loading? Loading a ROM for the first time can take 5 minutes or more.

I left it loading all night until the battery died. Just keeps staying there!

The One X is the best phone I ever owned.

These were the steps I used to install a custom ROM. Took about half an hour from beginning to end:

See if you missed anything from that list.

Did you flash the boot.img? I know on my HOX because its no S-Off I have to manually flash the boot.img after flashing the ROM.

you use the fastboot command on your computer to do this.

I have tried that too. Unless I'm going something very wrong. It now wont go into CWM at all.

Does anyone know anywhere that would be able to sort this? In or around Cashel/Portlaoise/Dublin?

    Same thing happened to me.
I fixed it by reflashing CWM, then the correct boot.img and finally the rom...

Can you boot into CM9 still?

If so get the CWM Manager app and try using it to reflash the recovery.

Alternatively, have you tried using ROM Manager to reflash the recovery?

In the end I just dropped it into a local guy to get it running. I need the phone for work and it being out of action and me being being a complete noob trying to fix it wont work.

The repair guy said he'd have a look and let me know why it isn't working. Hopefully he can get CM9 to stay on it but if not he'll put it back to the original software. And I will try and resist making a dogs dinner of it again.

Thanks to everyone for their input though - very helful:)

I'll report back if I can fill in any blanks.

try flashing another rom and see if that works man. very strange one...
if you can get another rom going first off you can probably try rom manager then though afaik its not recommended for one x.

as for fixing it... or getting it fixed... am sure u can get it done alright, but it cant be too bad.. my guess is its the rom is the issue tbh.. besides that you arent wiping stuff before hand right.
i dunno what roms are available for the one x but there shud be a nice selection.. check around. most will be similar

Back from the phone shop - couldnt sort it. I'm giving it another lash myself now. Here's hoping it works. If anyone has any ideas on somewhere to fix this please let me know.

There is something wrong with either the ROM or Kernel (boot.img).
Abandon CM9 for now, and try a completely different ROM. See if that works for you.

I'm on Venom at the moment and it's really good.

That's what I was thinking too. Unfortunately it wont alow me flash anything else onto it at all now.

I went to the vodafone shop yesterday - hadn't the heart to say I lost it and claim of the insurance. The guy in there was very helpful and sent it off to the repair centre to have the original software flashed back onto it. He said they may or may not ask for a small payment for this but it's better than the situation I'm in at the moment. Back to my old blackberry for now!

I most likely will do something once I get it back again as I like messing with things.

Thanks Mr E, Zagato, kenyard, Big Con, nedd and somebody else for the suggestions - I tried them all but to no avail:o

you would have voided your warranty the minute you rooted it unfortunately.. its why all posts say do at your own risk.. either way i hope it wont be too much of a cost/expense mate...

vodafone are usually pretty sound about these things tbh

Just to finish this I got a call from Vodafone. Looks like they couldn't fix the phone so need to go buy a new one.

I might buy a Galaxy S3 instead this time though!

would be the same dude.. its just a software issue at this stage so anyone with any experience in rooting a one x or general pc knowledge would be able to fix it in a few hours im guessing
    goodluck :)

Did you try and flash cwn again in fastboot? Try using one of the tools that does the commands automatically and has a user interface. There's a couple on xda, one of them even fetchs the latest cmw and stock kernel automatically. Flash cmw and then the stock kernel and if you get into cmw flash one of the stock Roms in Cwm. I don't mean an RUU but an actual stock zip that's just deodexed and rooted. If this doesn't work it's gonna need to be jtagged

Your problem happens some times, to fix it you need to plug your phone to your computer in fastboot mode.
Then you lauch the windows command in where are the fastboot files on your computer and write :
cd c:/fastboot (to get to your fastboot files on your computer if it's on the main hard disk of your computer)
    fastboot erase cache

If it doesn't works, there is an other solution.
Plug you'r One X to get at least 30% of battery, lock your bootloader using the command in a windows command line :

    fastboot erase cache
    fastboot reboot-bootloader
    fastboot oem lock

Your phone will be relock and you can execute on your computer, a RUU flash file (just follow the instructions give by the RUU program).

A RUU is a official firmware to get on the official HTC version again.

I hope it will help you.

Ps sorry for my bad english, i hope you have understand all the things i wrote:p
