Insurance question

About two months ago I took out a car insurance policy and paid for the entire year's insurance at once.
I have since passed my driving test and so I am just wondering does anyone know if the fact that I now have a full licence will have an effect on the amount I have already paid for the year (ie do you think they'd give me a partial refund?). Or is it completely dependent on the particular company & their policies?
I do plan on ringing the insurance company to find out, not sure if it's a stupid question though since I've already paid them for the year.
Anyone have any experience with this?
    Thank you:)

Yes definitely phone them and as far as I know they will give you a refund or I know some companies do anyway. It's always worth making the call.
    well done passing the test.

Not a stupid question at all. What will happen is that the company will re-evaluate the risk for your cover and come up with a premium to suit. You should see a reduction in your premium and a refund of some sort. How much you get noone but your insurance company will be able to tell.

    Congrats on passing btw.

Years ago I got bout €300 back after passing my test. I passed about 3 months into the policy which was €800ish. When renewing it I remember it being under 400. This was all as a named driver when 17 and then 18

So I rang them today and they said that once I send them a copy of my new licence, I'll get a €79 refund. Yay:D
