This company services all areas in the north west. They charged me €170 last time I got it done. Not sure if that is still the price, worth a phone call i'm sure!

No way they can be a licensed waste disposal operation at that price.

They sure can be. A relative of mines had his emptied for €55, how hard is it to move a slab of concrete throw a hose in and 2 min's later remove it and replace slab. Same crowd came to my gaff, took over an hour because of the system I have involved lots of fiddling and even washing with a pressure washer of some sort, cost €225 I wasn't playing though just signed the docket thankfully :pac:

So it seemingly depends on the system you have, is it a "hole in the ground" if so can be cheap. The one here is a filtration type system that leaves very little waste, so I'm led to believe, and needs servicing with the empting then you could be out a fair bit ;)

    Thanks all for the info.

I wouldn't mind a PM telling me who does it at the cheap prices, especially if they are legit.

    I was guessing 100, never thought I'd see 170 - 225 mentioned.

Best of luck with it anyway. Regarding the legit way of getting it emptied, with the possibility of having my tank inspected by epa or whoever at some point in the near future, i will be keeping my receipts to show who and how my septic tank waste was disposed of. paper trail etc!!

    Rip off Ireland as usual.

I would try the nearest farmer with a reasonable offer.

Just found this, some interesting reading here if considering getting your tank emptied!

) The owner of a domestic waste water treatment system shall be responsible for its maintenance and renewal and shall ensure that its parts and components are fit for purpose, operational where appropriate and kept in good
order and repair so as to prevent a risk to human health or the environment.
    De-sludging
    3. (1) A domestic waste water treatment system shall be de-sludged at intervals appropriate to the tank capacity and the number of persons resident in the
premises connected to it or as recommended by the system’s manufacturer.
    (2) De-sludging shall be carried out by a contractor authorised under the
Waste Management (Collection Permit) Regulations 2007 (S.I. No. 820 of 2007)

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in
    “Iris Oifigiúil” of 29th June, 2012.[223] 3

Regulations 2008 (S.I. No. 87 of 2008) and contents disposed of in accordance
with all relevant national legislative requirements or directions pertaining at
    the time.
    (3) An owner shall obtain evidence of de-sludging or a receipt from the authorised contractor each time their tank is de-sludged and such evidence or receipt
shall be retained for a period of five years.

I believe a farmer can legally empty their own septic tank. Dont know if you can spread it directly on the land, but I would be inclined to put it into a cattle slurry tank and have it well mixed.

Anyone got a phone number of an authorised contractor?
