i all I am a 19 year old male who dropped out of college a year and a half ago. I applied for a PLC back in April and got offered a place 2 weeks ago. I also applied for BTEA. The reason why I applied for the PLC was because I was told by the woman i'd only get the BTEA if I did a PLC first before going into DKIT. I was down with the social welfare and I was given the nod that I will be getting BTEA from September on. Thing is I really want to go straight into DKIT instead of going down the whole PLC route. I think CAO is closed mad.gif so have I missed the chance to apply for DKIT?

Sadly, I think you may have. However, get in touch with the DKIT Admissions Office and see if they have any other info. Sometimes courses do not get filled. When this happens a list of Vacant Places goes up on the CAO. I *think* you could get in that way if the course you wanted had vacant places, assuming you meet entry requirements. Best thing to do is contact DKIT and maybe the CAO.

Someone posted this over on the college forum.

Is this correct? I was up in the college earlier and the admissions office wasn't open :(

This was 3 years ago but I didn't apply till a few weeks before my course started, there was room on the course so they interviewed people who wanted in and pretty much accepted everyone as far as i know, some people even joined our course a month or 2 late...

Thats grand. I'd probably be best off contacting the admissions office.

Yep well certainly try it, but if they say something like "sorry too late you must go through cao" there are people you could contact i'm sure, head of year/dept etc.People who know there are places to fill on a course and will let you in after a quick interview. I dont think I went through the admin office. just make sure if you get accepted it doesn't mess up your btea, after all that's what will get you through the next few years

What do you want to study?

The CAO is closed but you can apply for vacant/available places.

These are the courses available. As you can see there are none in DKIT but seriously, I would apply for the available places and see if there will be places in DKIT later. There should be some when everyone takes up the CAO offers.
